Went to Singapore National Library with my fellow friends to do some reading and research as a reference for our assignments.
Honestly, I have always been a big fan of books since I was a little girl and I was quite excited to visit the national library.
At first, I thought a lot of people now days prefer e-books than printed books as we all know that it is easier to access and you could just read a lot of books in only just one application. But I am glad that I was wrong! The library was packed with lots of people, from students to adults and even oldies.
The National Library building was very minimalist. The white colour of the building and the natural trees surrounding it makes the environment feel very calming and fresh.
A perfect place to read, learn and chill.
At the first floor of the building, there was a film history exhibition titled "State of Motion: A Fear of Monsters". Me and two of my friends were very curious to see what was inside, so we went in! Turns out, the exhibition showcases the histories and trajectories of Asian horror; presenting all the monsters who have lived on our silver screens since the 1920s at the intersections of art, culture and cinema. There were pictures of people's emotions, scenes from horror movies and also some illustrations of scary monsters. It was a very unique exhibition.
Location: National Library Building, Plaza. (Free Admission)
Exhibition available from 23rd January 2019 - 24th February 2019.
We were on our way to the seventh floor, and guess what? We found another exhibition! This exhibition showcases historical information on how The Singapore National Library was founded. Turns out, the history of libraries in Singapore began in 1823 when Stamford Raffles (founder of modern Singapore) established a library within a Singapore Institution. The exhibition was very informative and also visually fascinating! *Scroll for more pictures!
Location: National Library Building, Level 6. (Free Admission)
And finally, we reached the Lee kong Chian Reference Library (our true destination!). The books displayed in the library was very organised and well managed. We searched for books that could help us understand more about starting a brand new fashion business.
I read two books titled "The Fashion Business Manual" by Fashionary and "Fashion Entrepreneur: Start Your Own Fashion Business" by Sandra Burke. Both of the books were very helpful for my project and I learned a few tips and tricks to run a new business.
Location: National Library Building, Level 7 - 13.

Overall, I had a really productive day in the National Library and I will definitely come back when I need guidance for my future assignments.
